We are pleased to announce that the first result of our project was completed on time and approved by the Council of the Minister of Culture. It is a scientific study:

The aim of the study was to assess the current state of research on luxury jewellery and clothing components in 9th–10th century Moravia, also referred to as “Veligrad jewellery.” The study presents a wide range of artefacts (earrings, spherical buttons, rings, etc.) and their typologies. A large part of the text focuses on archaeometric research and the contribution of experimental jewellery production. Chapters on provenance and chronology follow, and the expressive value of luxury jewellery for understanding Great Moravian society is discussed. The concluding section outlines possible research overlaps in regions neighboring Moravia.
