12. 01. 2026 X-ray image from Mikulčice selected for the final of Photogenic Science contest

The processing of jewellery within our project generates a large amount of image documentation. Not only do these images have content value for research, but they are often also beautiful. An X-ray image of a part of a silver spherical button inv. No. 2718/88 from Mikulčice, taken by project colleague Martin Fořt, was selected from a total of 238 submitted photos among the final images of the Photogenic Science contest.

This competition is organized annually by the Academy of Sciences and the best submitted work images from various academic institutes are then presented to the public. The current exhibition – including the image of the Mikulčice spherical button – can be visited until January 31, 2026 in the Science and Art Gallery in the main building of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic at Národní 3 in Prague. The gallery is open every weekday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. We kindly invite you to visit.
