05. 09. 2023 We’re getting equipped – this time with boxes for artifacts

This is what it looked like when we unpacked a hundred airtight boxes. What are they for? They are a suitable outer packaging material for the long-term storage of jewelry we are processing within our project. We intend to store artifacts individually to minimise handling during transport. In addition to the chemically stable airtight plastic container, the objects will also be placed in a soft, custom-molded polyethylene bed made of a material known as plastazol. If the objects need to leave the controlled climate of the vault room, we will add an absorber and humidity detector to the box. The last key component of the storage system is a label applied to the outside of the box so we always know exactly what we are working with.
